Retaliation in Housing
Retaliation is an adverse action taken against a person because he or she has asserted their rights, opposed a discriminatory practice, submitted a complaint, testified or participated in an investigation, and/or requested an accommodation.
Examples of Retaliation
- Unwarranted violations/fines
- Unwarranted eviction
- Refusal to provide maintenance services
What to do if Retaliated Against
- Submit a complaint with your landlord/housing provider; or
- Contact the Commission; or
- Submit a complaint with the Commission
